KatadataOTO – Changan debuts at GJAW 2025 bringing two flagship models, namely Changan Lumin and Deepal S07. Both fill different segments with a price range of IDR 178 million to IDR 599 million.

Interestingly, both products will later reach consumers with a locally assembled or Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status.

So Changan is not taking advantage of the imported electric car or Completely Built Up (CBU) incentives like other Chinese brands, for example, BYD.

“We can indeed start deliveries from December, but it will be in stages. Because we have just been born (debuted in Indonesia),” said Setiawan Surya, CEO of Changan Indonesia, when met on the sidelines of GJAW 2025 in Tangerang recently.

He was still reluctant to disclose the estimated number of units that could be delivered to consumers each month. However, according to him, it will adjust to the demand.

“If the demand increases, we will automatically follow consumer demand, we will try to catch up,” said Surya.

Speaking of local assembly, Surya confirmed that both the Changan Lumin and Deepal S07 are already being assembled locally at a facility owned by the Indomobil Group, which oversees them.

In fact, the Local Component Level (TKDN) of both models will later be at 40 percent.

This is one of the factors that allows its price to be kept lower compared to fully imported vehicles.

Production is not the only focus. Changan is preparing a number of dealer networks to reach consumers in various regions of Indonesia, especially in major city areas.

So far, there are only five outlets spread across the MT Haryono area, PIK 1 which is under construction, Bintaro, Bandung, and Bali.

“For now, there are only five. But next year we are targeting 20, we want to try to catch up so it can be realized quickly,” said Surya.

For your information, the Changan Lumin is a new rival to the Wuling Air ev, priced at IDR 178 million. This model is a small-sized electric car with a three-door configuration, targeting consumers with urban mobility needs.

Meanwhile, the Changan Deepal S07 enters the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment, with a much higher price of IDR 599 million.

Both can be seen in person during GJAW 2025. There are also units available for test drives in a special area.
