Changan's Golden Shield Battery will be mass-produced in 2027.

KatadataOTO – Changan doesn't just have a wide lineup of electric cars for consumers. They also have a series of innovations.

For example, the golden shield battery, a new generation power storage unit currently being developed by the Chinese manufacturer.

According to reports, this solid-state battery is ready to be tested in prototype cars in late 2025 to early 2026. It will then be mass-produced in 2027.

Changan's golden shield battery promises an energy density of up to 500 Wh/kg. This far exceeds the current industry average, which is around 150 Wh/kg.

With this improvement, Changan's electric cars are claimed to have a range of up to 1,500 km on a single charge.

If calculated, this distance could cover a trip from Jakarta to Lombok without needing to stop at a public electric vehicle charging station (SPKLU).

Additionally, Changan claims that their golden shield battery will not experience significant degradation even after covering a distance of 600,000 km.

The battery cell's lifespan can even last up to 5,000 charging cycles. This is certainly thanks to the high-stability standard cell cathode coating.

It becomes even more interesting with the inclusion of an AI-driven life cycles control system. It functions to monitor the battery's condition with a prediction error rate of under three percent.

This means the Electric Vehicle (EV) will always know when to adjust performance or battery cooling, ensuring maximum efficiency and lifespan.

Changan is also serious about safety issues. The Golden Shield Battery has been tested on more than 1 million vehicle units without a single overheating incident.

This Chinese brand relies on dual-method protection to prevent thermal runaway. Then there's the support of an AI cloud system with more than 20 smart algorithms that continuously analyze the battery's condition in real time.
