KatadataOTO – Sales of new cars in Indonesia have indeed not yet fully recovered. This was seen in the September 2025 period.

Processing data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), last month's distribution from factory to dealer (wholesales) was only 62,071 units.

The figure above shows a slight increase of about 0.5 percent compared to 61,777 units in August 2025.

Meanwhile, distribution from dealers to consumers (retail sales) in September 2025 stood at 63,723 units.

This achievement is down 4.20 percent compared to retail sales in August 2025.

Seeing the data above, Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) has spoken out. They believe that amidst the increasingly tight situation, there are still many possibilities.

“Amidst the decline in retail sales, Daihatsu will continue to look for opportunities to provide the best offers to customers,” said Tri Mulyono, Marketing & Customer Relations Division Head of Astra International Daihatsu Sales Operation, when contacted by KatadataOTO on Tuesday (14/10).

Tri did not deny that the domestic new car market has been turbulent since the beginning of 2025. Various obstacles have confronted the automotive industry.

As a result, the sales performance of new four-wheeled vehicles could not be maximized. And it has not yet met many people's expectations.

Nevertheless, Daihatsu continues to carry an important mission amidst the increasingly pressing situation like now.

“(We want to) maintain the second position in market share until the end of 2025,” Tri added.

Having a Strong Foundation

For your information, the target set by Daihatsu is not just empty talk. Because they already have a strong foundation.

Gaikindo data shows that last month Daihatsu managed to record retail sales of 11,390 units.

This number is a slight increase from 11,008 in August 2025. This is a positive achievement for the Japanese manufacturer.

According to Tri, there are a number of supporting factors for why Daihatsu's new car sales increased in September 2025.

For example, by maximizing the high public interest in their commercial vehicles.

"Marked by the increase in sales of Daihatsu Gran Max units (last month)," Tri continued.

In addition, Daihatsu's Low Cost Green Car (LCGC), the Sigra, is also no less popular with domestic consumers.

Thanks to the achievement above, Daihatsu is ranked second among the 10 best-selling car brands in Indonesia in September 2025.
