Set to be sold as a Perodua in Malaysia, the Daihatsu electric car based on the eMO EV has begun road testing.
KatadataOTO – Japanese automotive manufacturers are starting to prepare their electric vehicle lineup to compete in the electrification era. In Southeast Asia, the onslaught of Chinese electric cars is already being felt.
For your information, Daihatsu, through Perodua in Malaysia, is known to be preparing an electric car based on the eMO-II EV (Electric Vehicle) prototype.
Unlike the electric Ayla that was exhibited at GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2022, the eMO EV's appearance is more futuristic.
Although in terms of dimensions, it doesn't seem much different. However, there appear to be several changes from the concept version.
The car, caught road testing in Malaysia, was camouflaged across its entire exterior. However, it appears the elongated LED bar on the fascia has been removed.
The rear was given a large cover. Making the shape of the Daihatsu electric car not clearly visible.
Reported by Paultan on Monday (05/05), the road test unit used the license plate B3598A, which was previously used when the Daihatsu Move was tested in Malaysia.
The production version of the eMO EV is believed not to be much different from its concept version. Adjustments might be made to some components like the door handles and fascia.
