Daihatsu responds to the Minister of Industry's proposal to maintain new car prices to boost this year's sales.

KatadataOTO – The stagnant sales of new cars have prompted responses from several parties. One of them came from the Minister of Industry (Menperin).
He suggested that manufacturers lower the prices of new vehicles. This is in order to boost sales.
ADM (Astra Daihatsu Motor) also responded to the suggestion from this minister of President Prabowo Subianto.
“Currently at Daihatsu, we look at the capability (consumer purchasing power), because we are fully dominated by first-time car buyers. So we pay close attention to that,” said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing Director of ADM in Karawang, West Java some time ago.
The Japanese manufacturer considers price to be a very sensitive element. Especially for first-time consumers who want to own a vehicle.
Therefore, Daihatsu needs careful calculations to determine the value of a product. Especially when it is to be offered to the public.
Therefore, Astra Daihatsu Motor prefers to maintain quality while holding the prices of their cars.
“It's not about lowering the price, but rather, if possible, not passing on the entire increase in material costs to the consumer,” Agung continued.
This way, it is hoped that people will remain interested in buying Daihatsu Ayla to Xenia throughout 2025.
Thus, it can boost new car sales in the country. Moreover, Daihatsu products have a quality that cannot be underestimated.
“Perhaps you can see from our current price increases. So we are paying more attention to the public's purchasing power,” Agung emphasized.
For your information, previously Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, the Minister of Industry, suggested that manufacturers be willing to adjust the prices of their products.
“We hope there will be new policies, for instance, not a directive (like) sacrificing margins or lowering vehicle selling prices,” said Agus on the same occasion.
He also hopes that with the suggestion above, it can revive new car sales in 2025.
Considering that one of the factors for the sluggish four-wheeled vehicle market is the decline in public purchasing power.
“Of the many factors, we see a connection with the decline in public purchasing power, global economic challenges, and others,” Agus stated.
In addition, Agus hopes that Daihatsu and other manufacturers can make new innovations in product development.
Especially those that are consumer and environmentally oriented. This will then be accompanied by support from the Indonesian government.
