KatadataOTO – Tight competition in the electric car segment is making many manufacturers, including the Ford brand, start to overhaul their sales strategies.

Especially seeing the massive presence of electric car products from China with competitive prices and abundant features. Ford does not deny that the influx of Electric Vehicles (EVs) has an impact even in the premium segment.

Currently, Ford through RMA Indonesia is still focused on presenting Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs), double cabins, and the Ford Mustang sports car.

However, with the rapid development of the automotive industry, Ford is opening up the opportunity to bring electric cars from their global portfolio to Indonesian consumers.

“If customers tell us they want that product (Ford electric cars), we can provide it,” said Roelof Lamberts, Regional Director of RMA Indonesia in Jakarta, on Tuesday (11/11).

It should be noted that in its home country, Ford has already started offering electric car models. For example, the Ford Mustang Mach-E SUV and the F-150 Lightning and E-Transit double-cab pickups.

Then there is also the Escape hybrid car and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) variant of the Escape.

“Because at RMA we also do fleet sales, it means we have access to many Ford products around the world. We can bring them to Indonesia if our customers tell us they want those cars,” Roelof affirmed.

Furthermore, Roelof revealed that his party is not standing still in the face of fierce competition in the era of electrification.

“We have several electric car models. We think this will be an important component of our future strategy,” said Roelof.

For the time being, Roelof revealed that the American manufacturer will focus on strengthening Ford's brand image in the country through its existing products.

Then, taking advantage of the GJAW 2025 event, Ford is ready to present a special edition of the Everest Titanium, limited to only 25 units.

For prospective Ford car buyers, test drives can be fully experienced outside ICE BSD by utilizing a separate off-road area. This allows the vehicle's performance to be tested more thoroughly by customers.
