KatadataOTO – Towards the end of 2024, Ford is recalling thousands of vehicle models sold in the global market. It is known that in diesel-engine cars, there are cracks in the particulate filter, which could cause the car to fail emissions tests.

According to Carscoops, more than 768,927 units are affected by this issue. As many as 164,000 of them are units sold in Germany with production years from 2014 to 2020.

In Germany, various models are experiencing the problem, including the EcoSport, Fiesta, Focus, and Ranger.

As a result, Ford has started advising owners of affected vehicles to take them to the nearest dealer for service and to receive a free component replacement.

Ford has not specified which other countries have affected units. Indonesia itself is one of the countries where Ford's product line is on the road.

Unfortunately, as of this writing, a representative from Ford Indonesia has not yet provided a response regarding the possibility of units in the country being affected by the recall.

It should be noted that Ford began selling in Indonesia in 1989 under the Indonesia Republic Motor Company. Then in the 1990s, it was taken over by PT Ford Motor Indonesia, which brought in the Ranger and Everest, their mainstays in the global market.

In 2010, they brought in new models like the Focus and Fiesta, followed by the Ranger Facelift the next year. However, due to declining sales, they left Indonesia in 2016.

Six years later, in 2022, Ford returned to Indonesia under the auspices of RMA Group Indonesia, reintroducing their two flagship products, the Everest and Ranger.

This year, they are even interested in bringing in the iconic sports car, the Ford Mustang. The unit was exhibited at the GJAW (Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week) 2024 event.

Although it has not been officially launched, Ford has revealed that interested potential customers can already place orders.

“We will bring in the Ford Mustang. Hopefully, it can bring something new to the Indonesian market,” said Steven Beteng, Director of Sales at PT RMA Indonesia in South Jakarta some time ago.
