Mazda CX-6e Global Debut, Potential Replacement for MX-30 in Indonesia

Four Mazda models are reportedly being discontinued this year, all of which are models sold in Indonesia.
KatadataOTO – Mazda is preparing a number of new products for the global market, especially in the era of electrification. At the same time, rumors are circulating that they will discontinue four models this year.
The four products are the Mazda 2, CX-3, Mazda 6, and MX-30 EV (electric vehicle). All of them are also currently sold in Indonesia.
Notably, the MX-30 is the first electric car model produced by Mazda. However, according to a report from the local Japanese media, Creative Trend, its production is scheduled to stop in March 2025.
The five-year-old model has also not undergone any significant refresh or update.
A price that is too high with a less competitive driving range is considered one of the reasons Mazda plans to discontinue sales of the MX-30 EV.
In fact, the MX-30 EV was just launched in Indonesia in early 2025. The MX-30 became the first electric car offered by Mazda to local consumers for around IDR 860 million.
In the global market, the MX-30 is still available with a range extender option and will likely continue to be sold.
Then there is the Mazda 2. This hatchback is sold domestically and is priced at around IDR 371.1 million on the road in Jakarta.
Despite being one of the models with an affordable price tag, the Mazda 2 has not received a major update since its debut in 2014.
In Japan, Mazda is suspected to have already prepared a replacement, seeing the registration of the Mazda2e patent, which is believed to be an EV variant of the hatchback.
Then there is the Mazda 6 sedan. Indeed, rumors of the Mazda 6's discontinuation have been circulating for a long time, and the EZ-6 electric car has even been introduced as its touted replacement.
Lastly is the CX-3 SUV (sport utility vehicle). Similar to the Mazda 2, this model has not received a significant change since 2014, only a refresh or minor additions in 2018.
In response to this, PT EMI (Eurokars Motor Indonesia) confirmed that sales of the four models are still proceeding as usual. Customers can still place orders at official dealerships.
"We continue to follow the direction from Mazda Motor Corporation Japan regarding future product strategy. If there are any changes or further information, we will communicate it officially, especially to consumers," said Pramita Sari, Marketing and Communications General Manager of PT EMI to KatadataOTO, on Thursday (27/03).
