Transactions at the GIIAS 2025 exhibition are reportedly down, making GJAW 2025 the last hope to boost sales.
KatadataOTO – The GIIAS 2025 automotive exhibition successfully attracted many visitors during its 11-day run.
Based on a report from the Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), the number of visitors reached 485,569 people, an increase from the 2024 achievement of 475,084.
However, the transaction figures are still unclear. Gaikindo did not deny the possibility of a decrease, considering the many economic challenges faced by the public.
“The main purpose of this exhibition is to communicate and inform about the latest technologies and newest models to automobile enthusiasts,” said Yohannes Nangoi, Chairman of Gaikindo, when met in Tangerang recently.
According to him, transactions at GIIAS 2025 are not the main goal pursued by the organizers.
There is still one more exhibition to be held towards the end of the year, and it will focus more on promos and sales programs to boost public purchasing power in the automotive sector.
“We know that later at the end of the year there will be the Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW 2025). It is specifically designed for year-end promotions,” Nangoi affirmed.
For your information, GJAW 2025 will be held next November. Last year, the exhibition involved 80 participants, including 28 passenger vehicle brands, 12 two-wheeler brands, and 40 supporting industries.
Just like GIIAS, the automotive event is held at ICE BSD, Tangerang. Previously, GJAW more often used JCC Senayan as the exhibition venue.
Besides the sales programs, visitors can also enjoy interesting activities such as Underground Meet Up, Pro Rock, Campervan Activity, C Drift, Offroad Competition, and SIM Racing Competition.
Meanwhile, on weekends, visitors with families can participate in activities with children such as Push Bike Competition, Kids Zone (Drift and Offroad Competition for Kids), and Paper Art Craft.
Last year, GJAW 2024 partnered with Mandiri Utama Finance (MUF) as a sponsor, offering promos to make it easier for consumers to purchase new cars.
Along with that, dealers generally start implementing year-end programs such as discounts or price cuts on certain models.
Thus, GJAW 2025 is believed to be one of Gaikindo's last hopes to boost sales and hopefully approach the target, which is in the range of 700 thousand to 900 thousand units.
