KatadataOTO – PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) has set a fairly high target for sales of their newest model, the Honda HR-V Hybrid. Two non-hybrid variants with several feature changes are also available.

In one month, the Honda HR-V is targeted to sell 2,000 units. That figure is quite high for a vehicle sold at a price above Rp 400 million.

“As I said earlier, our target is around 2,000 units (per month), depending on market developments,” said Yusak Billy, Sales and Marketing & After Sales Director of PT HPM in Anyer, on Tuesday (10/05).

He explained that Honda's assembly facility is also committed to producing at least 2,000 HR-V units each month, allowing them to meet consumer demand if it surges.

“(The HR-V sales target) can be adjusted up or down, depending on market conditions and what the demand is like,” he said.

Reflecting on last year's retail sales figures, the HR-V contributed 17,865 units. Assuming this is divided evenly over 12 months, the average Honda sales for the HR-V were around 1,400 units.

There is no complete monthly retail data for the Honda HR-V for 2025 yet, but wholesales data (distribution from factory to dealer) shows that the HR-V's performance was poor and plummeted in April.

It is likely that HPM has already depleted its stock, so unit shipments to dealers have been reduced or even stopped.

Honda HR-V Wholesales 2025

  • January, 869 units
  • February, 1,371 units
  • March, 1,033 units
  • April, 18 units

Despite various challenges in the automotive sector, Honda is still confident it can achieve the target of 2,000 units per month, with the hybrid variant being the largest sales contributor.

In more detail, Honda is targeting 65 percent of national sales to be the hybrid variant and 35 percent the non-hybrid type. Meanwhile, specifically in Jakarta, the HR-V Hybrid is aimed to support 90 percent of the new model's sales.

“Once again, (the Honda HR-V sales target) depends on market conditions. Purchasing power is also still weak right now,” Billy emphasized.

For your information, the latest Honda HR-V comes in five variant options. Three of them are equipped with e:HEV hybrid technology, while the other two are gasoline engine types. Here are the prices.
