Even though PT HPM has secured a Domestic Content Level of over 50 percent, it will not export the Honda HR-V hybrid.
KatadataOTO – The recently released new Honda HR-V is equipped with a hybrid technology variant and is already locally assembled.
Although it is claimed to have a TKDN (Local Component Level) of more than 50 percent, PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) has confirmed that the new HR-V will not be exported.
The reason is that the Honda HR-V is a global model that is also assembled in various other countries such as Thailand.
“For now, it's still for domestic use only. Because they also make it in Thailand, it's a global model,” said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT HPM in Anyer, Wednesday (11/05).
He revealed that there are variations in the HR-V's specifications according to the needs of consumers in each country. However, he did not explain the differences in more detail.
Upon investigation, the 2026 model HR-V has a design that is very different from the version in Southeast Asia.
For example, the design tends to be more rounded and uses conventional door handles. This is believed to be because the model is adapted to the tastes and needs of local consumers.
“The BR-V, Brio, and WR-V are Indonesian models, so they can be (exported),” said Billy.
To date, Honda's exports are supported by the Brio and WR-V models. There are about 30 destination countries.
For your information, the TKDN of the Honda HR-V Hybrid is said to reach 53 percent. Meanwhile, the gasoline engine variants are in the range of 70 percent to 73 percent.
The hybrid type is equipped with an additional lithium-ion battery, and its cells are imported from Japan.
“Still from Japan, but assembled at our factory in Indonesia,” Billy revealed.
For your information, the Honda HR-V hybrid is the first HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) model from PT HPM to be locally assembled.
Previous lines such as the CR-V e:HEV, Accord e:HEV, and Civic RS e:HEV are still imported from Thailand.
The price tag is also considerably higher than the locally assembled HR-V, in the range of Rp 800 million to over Rp 900 million.
Meanwhile, the HR-V can be offered for under Rp 500 million OTR (On The Road) Jakarta. Here is the price list.
