KatadataOTO – Honda sales in May 2025 experienced growth compared to the previous month. However, the numbers cannot yet be considered normal.

Based on Gaikindo data, Honda's retail sales in May 2025 reached 4,750 units, an increase of 4.4 percent compared to the previous month's achievement of only 4,539 units.

However, when compared to May 2024, the company's achievement is still far below. At that time, they managed to sell 7,805 vehicles to customers, marking a decrease of 39.3 percent.

Meanwhile, for wholesales, Honda recorded a figure of 3,166 units. This achievement grew by 5.5 percent compared to April, which only sold 3,000 units.

But when compared to May 2024, Honda's wholesales are still much lower. At that time, they sold 7,294 units, or 56.6 percent more than now.

Honda does not deny the pressure it is currently facing. This situation is attributed to the domestic automotive market, which is still considered unstable.

“Entering the second quarter of 2025, the automotive market in general still faces challenges from the economic side and consumer purchasing power,” said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and After Sales Director of PT Honda Prospect Motor to KatadataOTO (16/06).

Not only that, he revealed that the low Honda sales in May were also still influenced by production adjustments for the Honda HR-V, which was launched some time ago. It is hoped that this situation can recover soon.

“The hope is that sales can increase again this June, and we will continue to monitor market conditions going forward,” he then added.

It was previously reported that Honda made vehicle production adjustments before the launch of the Honda HR-V e:HEV.

The car has a 1,500 cc engine that produces 104 hp and 127 Nm of torque. In the e:HEV type, there is an additional electric motor that provides an extra 129 hp and a peak torque of 253 Nm.

The car is expected to sell 2,000 units per month and become one of the company's backbones in the future.
