KatadataOTO – Hyundai Ioniq 9 is confirmed to be one of the models that will soon be launched in Indonesia. The model will complete the electric vehicle lineup, giving the public more choices.

Moreover, Hyundai Motors Indonesia claims to have received information that the market in the country wants this model to be sold soon.

“We plan to bring the Hyundai Ioniq 9 to introduce to consumers in Indonesia. This is done to help the company better understand the potential of the domestic market and to introduce Hyundai's latest electric vehicle innovations,” said Ju Hun Lee, President Director of Hyundai Motors Indonesia, in his official statement (25/02).

It should be noted that the Hyundai Ioniq 9 was first introduced globally in November 2024. Meanwhile, its launch was just carried out on February 13, 2025, in South Korea.

Its presence will be an option for people who want a large-capacity electric vehicle.

Not only that, the potential to produce it directly in Indonesia is also very high. This is because Hyundai already has very adequate facilities to manufacture it directly in the country.

“As a form of Hyundai's support for the Indonesian government to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, we are committed to continuously accelerating the transition to environmentally friendly mobility. Therefore, we have built infrastructure that allows the EV ecosystem to develop sustainably,” said Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia.

Hyundai's commitment to building the EV ecosystem in Indonesia can be seen from the establishment of the HLI battery cell factory. This facility stands on a 330,000-square-meter plot of land with an investment of USD 1.1 billion and is capable of producing 10 GWh of lithium-ion battery cells per year, enough to produce more than 150,000 Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) units.

Not only that, Hyundai has also presented a network of charging stations and various aftersales programs. Currently, there are more than 600 charging stations available in various strategic locations.

In addition, Hyundai has also opened access to its charging stations for users of other electric vehicle brands through the EV Charging Subscription program via the myHyundai application.
