KatadataOTO – The positive car sales in Indonesia in October 2025 impacted several segments, one of which is commercial vehicles, especially trucks.
Based on Gaikindo data, retail truck sales in October 2025 reached 5,321 units. This number is an increase from the previous month, which was only 4,925 units.
Looking back, the market in October was the second largest this year. This is because in February, retail truck sales reached 5,288 units.
The largest demand came from trucks with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of 5–10 tons. In that segment, at least 3,550 units were successfully sold, an increase from September which only sold 3,483 units.
The second position was filled by trucks with a GVW of more than 24 tons. This segment successfully sold 1,317 units, growing from the previous month which distributed 1,082 units.
Meanwhile, trucks with a GVW of 10–24 tons recorded 454 units, an increase from September which only reached 360 units.
Thanks to this, total retail truck sales from January to October 2025 amounted to 47,377 units. This figure contributes 7.2 percent to the vehicle market in the country.
Not only retail sales, but wholesale figures also experienced growth. Throughout October 2025, 5,678 units were shipped to dealers, an increase from September's 4,869 units.
This record is the highest achievement in the January to October 2025 period.
Similar to retail sales, the largest sales came from trucks with a GVW of 5–10 tons. A total of 3,932 units were shipped to dealers, an increase from September's 3,561 units.
Meanwhile, 1,275 units of trucks with a GVW of more than 24 tons were shipped, a jump compared to the previous month which recorded 953 units.
Then, trucks with a GVW of 10–24 tons were the smallest contributor, reaching only 471 units. Nevertheless, that figure is still higher than September, when only 355 units were shipped.
Total wholesale truck sales from January to October 2025 amounted to 45,466 units, or about 7.2 percent of the total market in the country.
Growth in the commercial vehicle segment in Indonesia is expected to continue until Lebaran 2026. This is because business owners usually make preparations well in advance.
“Demand for commercial vehicles usually experiences growth four months before Lebaran, because they have to prepare their businesses before the holiday,” said Aji Jaya, Sales and Marketing Director of PT KTB.
