KatadataOTO – Chinese car brand, Changan will officially enter Indonesia in early 2025. However, the introduction and sales of its vehicle lineup have not yet begun.

However, it is known that Changan will focus on offering affordable or low-segment cars as well as commercial vehicles for Indonesian consumers.

Although Changan has not explicitly detailed the model in question, the pickup Changan Hunter is believed to be one of their first models in Indonesia.

Based on KatadataOTO's search, the name Changan Hunter has been registered in the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI).

Changan Hunter was registered with the registration number IDM001261098 in January 2025.

It is stated on the PDKI page that the applicant's name is Chongqing Changan Automobile Co., Ltd, located in Chongqing, China.

Upon further investigation, the Changan Hunter is a double cabin pickup truck, also sold under the name F70.

Several variants are available, ranging from diesel engine variants to a hybrid Extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) model, a technology with a working principle similar to a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

The Southeast Asian country where the Changan Hunter is sold is the Philippines. The model was officially sold at the Manila Auto Show 2025 as the Nevo Hunter K50 EREV.

In terms of design, the Changan Hunter has a stature similar to its domestic rivals like the Toyota Hilux and Mitsubishi Triton.

Besides the powertrain, it seems the main differentiator for the Changan Hunter against its competitors will be the color options. The manufacturer provides an unconventional color, namely Olive Green.

In terms of dimensions, the Changan Hunter has a length of 5,380 mm, just slightly longer than the Toyota Hilux at 5,325 mm or the Mitsubishi Triton at 5,265 mm.

The Changan Hunter EREV in the Philippines is available in 4x2 Warrior and 4x4 Knight types. The 4x2 variant is equipped with a single electric motor producing 174 hp and a peak torque of 320 Nm.

Meanwhile, the 4x4 or Four Wheel Drive (4WD) configuration uses two electric motors that produce 268 hp and 470 Nm of torque.

Equipped with a battery and a 2,000 cc turbo gasoline engine, this car is claimed to be able to travel 1,031 kilometers with a full battery and fuel tank.

It is not yet known which Changan Hunter variant will be launched domestically, but there is a chance that the conventional diesel engine type will be introduced first.

That variant is equipped with a 2,000 cc turbodiesel powertrain that is claimed to produce 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
