KatadataOTO – Suzuki Sales in December 2024 grew compared to the previous month. Based on Gaikindo data, the Japanese manufacturer successfully recorded retail sales of 6,880 units.
That figure is higher than in November 2024, when only 6,240 units were sold. In fact, looking at the overall picture, the year-end achievement was the largest.
“December is always a special moment for the automotive industry because in addition to closing annual sales, there is usually an increase in sales. This is because consumers usually take advantage of year-end bonuses, long holidays, and special promos,” said Randy R. Murdoko, Department Head of 4W Sales PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales (PT SIS).
The Ertiga Hybrid, XL7 Hybrid, and Grand Vitara dominated Suzuki's passenger vehicle demand at 58 percent during December 2024. This shows that the public is increasingly fond of environmentally friendly cars.
However, it cannot be denied that Suzuki's 2024 sales were down compared to the achievement in the same period last year. This situation shows the heavy pressure on the automotive industry in the country.
From January to December 2024, Suzuki recorded retail sales of 69,392 units. This number places them in the fifth position of national automotive manufacturers with a market share of 7.8 percent.
Whereas in 2023, the manufacturer with the S logo sold 82,244 units and had a market share of 8.2 percent. At that time, they were recorded as the fourth best-selling car manufacturer in the country.
Looking at the month-to-month sales data, April was the most difficult period. This is because Suzuki was only able to sell 5,004 units to customers.
The results achieved by Suzuki in retail sales were not much different from wholesale. They were recorded as having only shipped 66,809 units throughout 2024, capturing a market share of 7.7 percent.
That total is 14,248 units less than last year's achievement of 81,067 units. That figure was enough for them to capture a market share of 8.1 percent.
In 2025, the automotive industry is also expected to remain full of challenges. This is because the government has set several unpopular policies such as an increase in VAT and the implementation of opsen.
These regulations are expected to burden the public and reduce purchasing power.
