KatadataOTO – PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) is reluctant to say much about the arrival time of the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) hybrid Honda Stepwgn. The model has been exhibited several times at automotive events and is claimed to have received a positive response.

Although the exact time is not yet known, the Honda Stepwgn is already registered on the Jakarta Samsat PKB website. Based on KatadataOTO's search on Wednesday (26/2), there is a car with the code RP88 CVT ZZ which is strongly suspected to be the Stepwgn.

The ZZ initials themselves are believed to be the code marker for Honda's hybrid cars, having been used on other models such as the CR-V e:HEV.

There are still several more automotive exhibitions taking place this year that could be an opportunity for Honda to launch its products to consumers. One of them is GIIAS 2025 (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show).

Because at IIMS 2025, PT HPM instead presented the e:N1, touted as the electric version of the HR-V. Uniquely, the scheme is a rental, not ownership like other Honda vehicle lines, with a cost of Rp 22 million per month.

Furthermore, the Honda e:N1 seems to be targeting fleet customers who need an environmentally friendly vehicle for daily operations and mobility.

Meanwhile, the Stepwgn is strongly believed to have a different scheme from the e:N1 and will be sold as a regular passenger vehicle. Essentially, the Stepwgn is a family car with capable features.

If it comes to Indonesia, Honda had revealed consumer price expectations in the range of Rp 600 million-Rp 700 million.

Furthermore, if Honda considers assembling the Stepwgn locally, especially if there is a lot of interest, there is still a chance its price tag could become more competitive.

For context, there are not many hybrid-powered sliding door MPVs in Indonesia at the moment. Among them are the Nissan Serena e-Power, Alphard Hybrid, and Vellfire Hybrid in the premium class.

Meanwhile, a model similar to the Stepwgn, like the Toyota Voxy, still uses a gasoline engine. No hybrid type has been offered to customers in the country yet.

“We are seriously considering its (Stepwgn's) launch in the near future,” affirmed Yusak Billy, Sales & Aftersales Director of PT HPM to KatadataOTO some time ago.
