Tiggo 5X Sales Target Not Yet Achieved, Here's Chery's Response

KatadataOTO – At the beginning of its launch, the Chery Tiggo 5X was targeted to sell at least 1,000 units by the end of 2024. However, it turned out that interest was lower than the company's expectations.

Based on Gaikindo data, wholesales of the Chery Tiggo 5X from its launch until the end of December 2024 only amounted to 879 units. Then in January 2025, sales of the model were 25 units.

In total, since its launch, the model has only sold 904 units, or 96 units short of the initial target.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer has not stopped marketing it. They claim that demand remains positive even though it has not reached the expected target.

“The response to the Chery Tiggo 5X is still good, and even now there are still interested buyers looking for it,” said Mohamad Ilham Pratama, Head of Marketing at PT Chery Sales Indonesia, to KatadataOTO (28/02).

He also revealed that his party continues to evaluate all its models, including the Tiggo 5X. The goal, of course, is to keep sales optimal.

“The Chery Tiggo 5X is present in the Small SUV segment, and we continue to evaluate and develop this segment. Moreover, the product has also been quite successful globally,” he then added.

It was previously reported that the Chery Tiggo 5X suddenly disappeared from the official website. Its position seemed to be replaced by the Tiggo Cross, which was recently launched by the manufacturer at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2025.

Rumors that sales were discontinued and replaced by the Tiggo Cross immediately circulated. However, this was denied as they are implementing a new strategy.

The company is entrusting the Tiggo 5X to be marketed directly by dealers. With this, it is hoped that the convenience provided can be more targeted.

It should be noted that the Tiggo 5X was officially launched in June 2024 and is designed with compact yet sporty dimensions. This is thanks to the inclusion of a chrome-plated Diamond Shaped Grille paired with a set of LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL).

Inside the cabin, the Chery Tiggo 5X is dominated by the color black, giving it a sporty impression. For entertainment, the Chinese manufacturer has installed a 10.25-inch head unit.

This car is equipped with a 1,500 cc engine capable of producing 111.4 hp at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 2,750 rpm.
