KatadataOTO – Toyota Yaris Cross has successfully received a five-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP. This is the best score given by the institution after conducting crash tests.
This test was conducted on the Indonesian-made Toyota Yaris Cross model, which is exported to several countries. Including Brunei, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam.
The test was adapted to several scenarios such as frontal and side impacts, as well as the completeness of active safety technology. Thus, it is hoped that the test results can be more objective.
In the report submitted by ASEAN NCAP, it was stated that the Toyota Yaris Cross scored 83.02 points. This figure was obtained based on four assessment categories.
For Adult Occupant Protection, the Toyota Yaris recorded a score of 36.36 points. The maximum possible score is 40.00 points.
In the assessment, it was found that the car successfully protected the driver and passengers very well, especially in the head and leg areas. ASEAN NCAP also gave a good score for chest protection.
Then, for Child Occupant Protection, it achieved 17.32 points. The maximum score in this category is 20.00 points.
Unfortunately, the absence of Child Detection was a specific note for the Japanese manufacturer.
Meanwhile, Safety Assist scored 16.8 points and Motorcyclist Safety was 12.21 points.
ASEAN NCAP highlighted the number of safety features that are standard on the vehicle. Including 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), and a Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) for front passengers.
Not only that, they also appreciated the many active safety features embedded in the vehicle. Such as Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for both city and inter-urban conditions, Blind Spot Detection (BSD) on both sides of the vehicle, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), and Auto High Beam (AHB).
Although the Toyota Yaris Cross achieved good results in the test, drivers must still be careful when driving. This is because safety on the road is largely determined by the driver's behavior.
