KatadataOTO – A electric car, a Hyundai Ioniq 5, hit a motorcyclist in the North Sunter Lake area, North Jakarta, on Saturday (19/04) in the early hours.

The driver also injured a pedestrian and hit 21 motorcycles that were parked in the Helen’s Sunter area.

Fortunately, there were no fatalities in the incident. However, several people sustained injuries.

“The driver is suspected of being intoxicated and we are currently still taking their statement,” said AKBP Donni Bagus Wibisono, Head of the North Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit, as quoted by Antara on Sunday (20/04).

Regarding the chronology, the driver of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, with the initials MPK, was said to be driving from east to west.

Near the Helen’s discotheque, the car he was driving swerved to the right, hitting a pedestrian in the road area.

However, it then swerved again to the left and hit a motorcycle that was moving alongside the car. Afterwards, the Ioniq 5 continued on until it finally lost control and crashed into 21 motorcycles in the Helen’s parking lot.

“The evidence collected by the police includes one car, 23 motorcycles, and two carts,” said Donni.

It should be noted that driving under the influence of alcohol is prohibited by law through Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning LLAJ (Traffic and Road Transportation).

It is further detailed in article 106 paragraph (1) that every person driving on the road must operate their vehicle properly and with full concentration.
