KatadataOTO – Rainer Zietlow, founder of Challenge4 GmbH who is on the ID Buzz World Tour, has officially arrived in the country. His arrival was welcomed by Volkswagen Indonesia and the communities.

This is because the ID Buzz World Tour is a program to demonstrate the toughness of Volkswagen's electric vehicle. The car will undertake a world-record-setting transcontinental journey covering a distance of more than 80,000 kilometers through 75 countries on five continents.

Rainer Zietlow's journey began from the Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles headquarters in Hannover, Germany, on July 1, 2025.

“For me, Indonesia is one of the most interesting parts of this journey. The diverse road conditions, from urban areas to inter-provincial routes, serve as a real testament to the ID Buzz's capabilities,” said Rainer.

While in Indonesia, Rainer Zietlow will travel on the island of Java to Bali. After that, he will return to the capital city and then continue his journey to Australia.

His journey will also prove how ready the electric vehicle infrastructure is in the country. This is because he must charge at the right places so that the journey is not hindered.

Nevertheless, the Volkswagen ID Buzz itself is an electric car with a fairly long range. This is because the vehicle is equipped with a 91 kWh battery, enough to cover a journey of 487 km on a single charge.

The vehicle's performance is also considered tough as it is equipped with an electric motor capable of delivering 281 hp and 560 Nm of torque. Thanks to this, the car can reach 100 km per hour in just 7.9 seconds.

The car has also been designed to provide comfort during the journey. Various interesting features have been embedded, such as the Electrochromic Panoramic Smart Glass Roof, a 3-zone Air Care Climatronic system, and seat adjustments with separate heating functions for the front and rear seats

On the technology side, there is a 12.9-inch touchscreen, App-Connect including App-Connect Wireless for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a premium Harman Kardon 12 + 1 speaker audio system. The car is also equipped with safety features such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Emergency Braking Front Assist.
