KatadataOTO – Cars with automatic transmissions seem to be more in demand by Indonesian consumers. Many of the latest models are no longer available with a manual transmission option.

For Honda, for example, the wholesale figures, or distribution from the factory to dealers, for the manual transmission Brio RS are far behind the automatic transmission variant.

At its lowest in April 2025, only eight units of the manual type Honda Brio RS were delivered. Meanwhile, the CVT variant had 243 units in the same period.

Meanwhile, the manual type WR-V has no longer been distributed to dealers since August 2025. In total, last year's wholesale was 90 units of the WR-V MT.

It should be noted that the Honda WR-V was launched in 2022 and all its types used an automatic transmission. However, in 2023, a manual type was added to meet consumer needs.

However, its sales actually plummeted in 2025. The automatic transmission variant remained more popular with consumers.

This means there was a misreading of the market, causing the manual transmission version to fail to be accepted by the public.

In response to this, PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) confirmed that sales of both models are still ongoing for Indonesian consumers.

“Product variant arrangements, including transmission options, production, and distribution, are always periodically adjusted by us according to market developments and consumer needs in each segment,” said Yusak Billy, Sales & Marketing and Aftersales Director of PT HPM to KatadataOTO, on Thursday (08/01).

He was reluctant to explain in more detail the continuation of the manual type Honda Brio RS and the WR-V MT for the Indonesian market this year.

However, interested consumers can still purchase both products through official Honda dealers.

For your information, during the January-November 2025 period, a total of 2,948 units of the Honda Brio RS were sold.

2,678 of these units were the automatic transmission variant, while the remaining 270 units were manual transmission.

In May and June 2025, the Brio RS MT recorded zero wholesales, meaning none were delivered to dealers at all.
