Wuling's New Car Predictions at PEVS 2025, an Electric MPV is Expected

KatadataOTO – The PEVS (Periklindo Electric Vehicle Show) 2025 automotive exhibition will soon be held at JIExpo Kemayoran at the end of April. A number of brands will be bringing new products, one of which is Wuling Motors.

This Chinese manufacturer did not disclose details, but showed the silhouette of its new vehicle's front fascia.

“There is one black surprise, which we will display for the first time at PEVS 2025,” said Brian Gomgom, Brand Communication Senior Manager of Wuling Motors in Central Jakarta recently.

He confirmed that the newest product from Wuling is an electric car. There is some speculation, at a glance its shape resembles the Yangguang which is already marketed in China.

The Wuling Yangguang is an electric-powered commercial vehicle produced by SAIC-GM-Wuling.

Another possibility is the MPV electric Linxys, part of a project or sub-brand of Wuling in its home country.

In 2020, Wuling registered the Linxys brand and it was renewed again in April 2022. Its scope is broad, not only electric cars but also other types of transportation such as buses, trucks, and even yachts.

The Linxys is an environmentally friendly sliding door MPV. At a glance, its posture is similar to the Confero and Cortez.

However, its angles appear sharper with a minimalist grille typical of electric cars. Then there is a horizontal black accent on the headlight section, adding an elegant impression to the Linxys.

The Linxys is expected to be sold under this new name as a sub-brand. Wuling has a similar model whose design has been registered by Guangxi Automobile together with Liuzhou Wuling.

The differences are not significant, only in the color and wheel design, grille pattern, and the emblem in the center.

Considering there are not many electric MPV options in Indonesia, the Linxys could be an interesting alternative.

Moreover, electric MPVs with a sliding door configuration in the country are still in the luxury car segment. The cheapest are offered by the Maxus Mifa 7 and Mifa 9, starting from Rp 700 million to Rp 1 billion.

Meanwhile, another model competing with the Toyota Alphard, the Denza D9, is offered at a price of Rp 950 million on the road in Jakarta. In the future, a premium electric MPV, the Xpeng X9, will also be present.

There is no further information regarding the technical specifications of the Linxys. It is worth waiting to see if the model will make its debut at the PEVS 2025 exhibition.
