KatadataOTO – Manufacturers in China seem unwilling to be left behind in presenting the latest innovations. This includes producing flying cars.
Recently Aridge, a subsidiary of Xpeng Motors, officially launched the modular Land Carrier flying car from its factory in Guangzhou, China.
According to a Carnewschina report on Wednesday (05/11), this marks the world's first mass production line for a four-wheeled flying vehicle.
“This flying car will be used for experimental flight tests,” wrote the online media outlet from China.
The test results will later form the basis for Land Carrier deliveries next year, so that the public can own a unit soon.
For your information, the Aride factory covers about 120 thousand square meters. It is designed to produce Xpeng's modular flying car.
This new Xpeng product is divided into two different parts, namely a ground and an air vehicle.
The ground module is known as the 'mother vehicle'. It relies on six wheels and is equipped with all-wheel drive.
It also has rear-wheel steering and provides load capacity and off-road capabilities.
With a length of about 5.5 meters, a width of 2 meters, and a height of 2 meters, the ground module is claimed to be easy to drive. In fact, the owner only needs a conventional driver's license.
Meanwhile, the air module is an electric-powered flying vehicle. It is also equipped with six rotors.
The body and rotor blades are made of carbon fiber, which is claimed to balance strength and weight.
The cockpit of the Xpeng flying car is equipped with a 270-degree panoramic view, offering a wide field of vision.
Additionally, this Land Carrier supports both manual and autonomous flight modes. The main control uses a single-stick system for one-handed operation.
At the same time, the autonomous mode offers intelligent route planning, automatic flight along a set path, one-button takeoff and return, 3D composite vision, and landing assistance.
It is worth noting that the Xpeng flying car factory includes five core workshops: composites, propulsion, assembly, painting, and final integration.
At full capacity, the factory is designed to produce 10,000 units per year, with an initial capacity of 5,000 units.
Every 30 minutes, the Xpeng factory in China is capable of producing one flying car to meet consumer demand.
