KatadataOTO – Chery QQ is reportedly being revived by the manufacturer after its production was halted in 2014. The model is planned to be introduced at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025 later this month.
Although it has yet to make its debut, the Chinese manufacturer has already shown concept images of the model. The design is quite modern and appealing, especially for the younger generation.
The car is designed to have an attractive and modern look. From the front, the car is equipped with unique headlamps and a closed grille featuring the Qq logo.
Moving to the side, the car is equipped with digital side mirrors and wheels with a '+' symbol design. Meanwhile, the rear is also attractive with a design that resembles the front.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer did not provide details regarding its specifications. This could be important information for people who might be interested in owning it.
It should be noted that the Chery QQ was launched in 2003 and once entered the Indonesian market. At that time, the manufacturer tried to position it as the first car for the younger generation.
In its first year, the model sold more than 40,000 units. Then in 2005, monthly sales reached 10,000 units. A total of 1.4 million Chery QQ units were sold because its price was quite cheap, at only 29,900 yuan or around IDR 69.7 million.
However, sales of the model were discontinued in 2014 because it was deemed no longer ideal to continue. Chery then began to focus on developing other vehicles.
If the Chery QQ is indeed re-launched, it is possible that it will come as an EV and challenge the small electric car segment. Moreover, the market potential for electrified vehicles is still very large.
In fact, many people choose a small electric car as their first electrified vehicle because the price is quite competitive. Therefore, it would not be surprising if many manufacturers want to enter that market.
Not only that, a number of countries are also providing various incentives to encourage the switch from conventional to electric cars. Thus, it is hoped that its growth can be faster in the future.
