KatadataOTO – Launching new products is considered one of the strategies to boost sales and attract public interest. For that reason, PT HMID (Hyundai Motors Indonesia) will have 15 new models in Indonesia throughout 2025.

Five of them have already been launched at the beginning of the year. For example, the refreshed versions of the Creta, Venue, Stargazer Tech, the latest Staria, and the Ioniq 5 Limited Edition.

With 10 models remaining, Hyundai revealed that their new products will vary, ranging from gasoline-powered cars, hybrids, to EVs (Electric Vehicles).

“We are focusing on how to have more environmentally friendly products,” said Fransiscus Soerjopranoto, Chief Operating Officer of PT HMID in Jakarta recently.

Not only that, he said that most of Hyundai's new products in the country will be locally assembled or have CKD (Completely Knocked Down) status.

Speaking of the models to be launched, according to Frans, it will be a combination of facelifted versions of existing Hyundai cars in Indonesia and new products that have never been marketed in the country.

“We have natural resources in Indonesia, and the facilities are quite complete. It's just a matter of formulating what products we will use in Indonesia,” he asserted.

One model that is likely to be introduced in the near future is the Ioniq 9 electric car. This EV is touted as the twin of the Kia EV9, using the e-GMP platform and similar dimensions.

The Ioniq 9 has a three-row, 7-seater configuration. Although similar to the Kia EV9, its battery capacity is said to be larger at 110.3 kWh, offering a range of 620 km on a single charge (WLTP).

For comparison, the Kia EV9 is equipped with a 99.8 kWh battery, providing a range of 497 km.

Then there is speculation that a Stargazer facelift will also launch this year, enlivening the LMPV (low multi-purpose vehicle) segment, which is in high demand by the public.

Hyundai is still reluctant to confirm the arrival of the Stargazer facelift, but ensures their new products will be locally assembled to maximize production capacity at the factory.

“We, as the Indonesian nation, want the production to be local in Indonesia. We still have production capacity; if the national capacity is over two million, ours is 250 thousand. Currently, only about 100 thousand is being used,” said Frans.
