KatadataOTO – Sales of electric motorcycles continue to decline. Especially after the uncertainty regarding the provision of subsidies for two-wheeled electric vehicles.
This situation is making producers in the country cry out. Many of their products are not selling.
Seeing this, the Indonesian Electric Vehicle Industry Association (Periklindo) emphasizes the need for government presence.
“Intense government intervention is needed. An aggressive fiscal policy will provide confidence to both investors and consumers,” said Moeldoko, Chairman of Periklindo at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta on Tuesday (29/04).
According to Moeldoko, the right fiscal policy will not only provide certainty for the business world, but also be able to move the electric motorcycle market.
This can end the stagnation that is currently happening. Producers can then start selling their products again.
“The market has currently stopped because consumers are waiting. Dealers are now in distress because there is no certainty about the continuation of incentives,” he stressed.
In addition, Moeldoko also hopes President Prabowo Subianto will create technical policies that are easy and do not burden industry players.
“All of this ultimately leads to the achievement of Presidential Regulation No. 55, where they want the Indonesian EV industry to grow rapidly,” concluded Moeldoko.
If all regulations can be created and implemented, there will be many benefits. For example, the use of electric motorcycles will increase.
This can help make the environment better. It will also contribute to reducing government subsidies from the fuel oil (BBM) sector.
“If government fuel subsidies are reduced, then that money can be used for other things. Such as in the health, education, and other sectors,” said Moeldoko.
For your information, previously Moeldoko also hoped that the government would provide electric motorcycle subsidies the same as last year.
"We hope there will still be a subsidy in the same form as yesterday (2024), a direct Rp 7 million," he said.
He also hopes the government will disburse subsidies for converted electric motorcycles like last year, which is a discount of Rp 10 million per unit.
This is believed to be able to stimulate the public to switch to using electric two-wheeled vehicles.
