KatadataOTO – It cannot be denied that the market for electric motorcycles is experiencing a slump. Many people are reluctant to buy electric two-wheeled vehicles.
The Indonesian Electric Motorcycle Industry Association (Aismoli) has also tried to speak out regarding the conditions they are currently experiencing.
“We see that electric motorcycle sales until the end of this year are still moving gradually and are relatively moderate,” said Budi Setiyadi, Chairman of Aismoli, when contacted by KatadataOTO on Tuesday (30/12).
According to Budi, the performance realization of Electric Vehicles (EV) has not met their expectations for 2025.
However, he sees that the demand trend for electric two-wheeled vehicles still exists at the end of the year like now.
Aismoli also assesses that the electric motorcycle market still shows growth potential in December 2025.
“Aismoli members are currently focused on maintaining sales sustainability through organic strategies, product strengthening, and after-sales services,” said Budi.
On the other hand, Aismoli also commented on the electric motorcycle subsidy that has not yet been provided by the government.
Budi explained that they are trying to understand the dynamics and follow the policy direction of President Prabowo Subianto and his ministers.
“The national electric motorcycle industry is currently still able to grow organically along with increasing public awareness and ecosystem support,” emphasized the Chairman of Aismoli.
For your information, from January to December 9, 2025, only 55,059 units have received a Type Test Registration Certificate (SRUT).
It should be noted that the number above has a significant difference compared to the achievements in 2023 and 2024.
Similar data shows that last year there were 77,078 electric motorcycles that had obtained an SRUT. This means a correction of 28.6 percent in 2025.
Meanwhile, in 2023, there were 62,409 electric two-wheeled vehicles that had an SRUT.
For your information, the SRUT is an important document issued by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) and serves as the vehicle's birth certificate.
Additionally, the SRUT proves that the vehicle has passed type testing according to previously determined technical specifications.
It is also a primary requirement for obtaining the BPKB, STNK, and TNKB before the electric motorcycle can be used on public roads.
The Chairman of Aismoli also hopes that the electric motorcycle market can recover and deliver maximum performance in 2026.
