KatadataOTO – A 10 percent ethanol blended fuel or E10 will be implemented by the government as a way to reduce exhaust emissions.

Readiness is needed from various parties, including motor vehicle manufacturers, to ensure that the products sold are ready, especially their fuel tanks.

Considering that ethanol has properties that can bind water, the material of the fuel tank on vehicles deserves the attention of manufacturers, including motorcycles.

According to experts, the latest motorcycles are already capable of using ethanol. However, manufacturers must reconfirm and provide education so that customers are not worried.

Honda, as one of the motorcycle manufacturers, previously confirmed that their latest products are compatible with a 10 percent ethanol-blended gasoline.

This includes their newest motorcycle, the New Honda ADV 160, which was launched some time ago.

“Indeed, on the current motorcycles, we have added an anti-rust coating, especially in the (fuel) tank,” said Wahyu Budhi, Technical at PT Wahana Makmur Sejati (WMS), the main dealer for Honda in Jakarta-Tangerang, in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/10).

In general, the use of ethanol is said to have no adverse effects on the engine or performance. Therefore, New Honda ADV 160 users should not be concerned.

The potential for rust in the tank has turned out to be a major concern for many customers. Therefore, Honda has confirmed that it has taken anticipatory steps by coating it with an anti-rust layer.

This anti-rust material is necessary to prevent the tank from corroding or rusting when storing ethanol fuel, which contains water.

“We coat the parts that could potentially cause the rusting process, especially in the tank area. We've gone to that extent,” Wahyu emphasized.

Therefore, prospective buyers of the New Honda ADV 160 are expected not to worry about facing the implementation of the E10 fuel policy that the government plans to apply.

For your information, the New Honda ADV 160 has received updates in terms of its exterior and features.

Thanks to the high interest in the RoadSync variant on the PCX, Honda has finally embedded this technology in the New Honda ADV 160.

RoadSync is only available on the highest variant of the New Honda ADV 160. This feature allows the user's device to connect directly to the motorcycle.
