The Suzuki e-Access electric scooter has been introduced, based on the Access, and will officially launch in March 2025.
KatadataOTO – Not wanting to be left behind in the era of electrification, Suzuki officially introduced its first electric motorcycle, the Suzuki e-Access, recently in India, specifically at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo.
For your information, the e-Access is Suzuki's first EV (Electric Vehicle) motorcycle model, using the Access base sold in India. The product will be produced in India starting March 2025 before being exported to several other countries.
“This is a practical scooter with a capable range and a modern design. The e-Access offers an authentic riding experience like other conventional Suzuki models,” wrote the official statement from Suzuki Global, quoted on Monday (20/1).
In terms of dimensions, the e-Access is quite compact at 1,860 mm x 715 mm x 1,140 mm with a wheelbase of 1,305 mm and a ground clearance of 160 mm, only slightly larger than the Honda EM1 e: electric motorcycle which is already marketed in Indonesia.
Then, its battery capacity is larger than the Honda EM1 e: with a voltage of 51.2 volts and a capacity of 60 Ah or about 3.07 kWh, offering a range of 95 km on a single charge.
Suzuki will officially launch the e-Access this year. For now, the estimated price is Rs 1.20 lakh to Rs 1.40 lakh, or equivalent to Rp 22.7 million - Rp 26.4 million.
Suzuki does not yet have an electric motorcycle in the domestic market. They are indeed considering it, but revealed there are still a number of obstacles.
“For now, we don't have a specific EV model, but in the future, we will consider it. We can't say when yet,” said Shigemori Keisuke, General Manager 2W Sales & Marketing of PT Suzuki Indomobil Sales in Tangerang some time ago.
According to Keisuke, infrastructure is one of their considerations before marketing electric motorcycles.
“We have to think about how to penetrate the market, this is the main challenge if we want to enter the EV market in Indonesia,” he emphasized.
Throughout 2025, Suzuki will present two new motorcycle models, specifically in the second half. However, more detailed information about the products has not been revealed.
“We will launch two new products in the sport and automatic scooter segments. They will likely be introduced in the second half of 2025,” said Christoporus Prasetyanto, Sales & Digital Marketing Head 2W of PT SIS in South Jakarta recently.
