KatadataOTO – Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE), also known as electronic ticketing, has become a mainstay in monitoring traffic violations. This is because it allows for stricter surveillance, as it operates 24 hours a day.

Not only that, but every enforcement action is also provided with proof of the violation so that the public can know their mistake. Another advantage is that the risk of illegal levies will be smaller compared to direct supervision by officers.

Based on Law Number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation (LLAJ), there are at least 10 types of traffic violations that are the focus of E-TLE ticketing enforcement.

  • Violating road markings and traffic signs
  • Not wearing a seatbelt while driving
  • Using a smartphone while driving
  • Exceeding the maximum speed limit
  • Motor vehicles using fake license plates
  • Running a red light
  • Driving against the flow of traffic
  • Riding a motorcycle without a helmet,
  • Riding a motorcycle with more than three people,
  • Motorcycles not turning on their lights during the day

Specifically in the Capital City, Jakarta's odd-even traffic monitoring is also carried out via ETLE cameras. This makes violations easier to detect.

It should be noted that each traffic violation will be subject to different penalties according to the applicable regulations. If the fine is not paid, the vehicle registration certificate (STNK) is at risk of being blocked and cannot be renewed

Therefore, the public is advised to continue to obey the rules for a more peaceful driving experience.

To make it easier for the public to find out whether their vehicle has received an electronic ticket or not, the police have provided a special website to check it. This way, there is no longer a need to go to the police station just to confirm the status of a car or motorcycle.

  • Go to the page https://etle-pmj.id/
  • Enter the vehicle's license plate number, chassis number, and engine number in the provided fields.
  • Once filled in, select ‘Check Data’
  • If there are no violations, the message ‘No Data Available’ will appear
  • However, if a violation is found, a record of the time, location, violation status, and vehicle type will be displayed.
