KatadataOTO – Dedi Mulyadi, Governor of West Java (Jawa Barat) is once again in the spotlight. This time, he has created a new policy for owners of two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles.
He is asking for cars and motorcycles operating in West Java, but with license plates from other provinces, to be immediately re-registered.
“All vehicles with out-of-province license plates operating in West Java are required to re-register to a West Java license plate,” Dedi stated on his personal Instagram, Wednesday (09/04).
According to Dedi, this rule applies to all parties. Both individuals, government companies, and private companies.
According to Dedi, by re-registering, the revenue from PKB (Motor Vehicle Tax) in West Java can be maximized.
So the money can be used for various needs. Such as building roads and other supporting infrastructure.
“Don't operate and damage roads in West Java, but pay taxes in other provinces,” Dedi Mulyadi continued.
Now, to stimulate motor vehicle users, Dedi and his staff have prepared an incentive.
Later, owners of motorcycles and cars who want to re-register will be exempted from PKB (Motor Vehicle Tax) and BBNKB (Vehicle Title Transfer Fee).
“Basically, from April 9 to June 20, the tax will be waived for one year or in 2025,” said Dedi.
However, other costs such as PPN (Value Added Tax), issuance of BPKB (Vehicle Ownership Book), and STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate) remain the responsibility of the owner.
This is because, according to Dedi Mulyadi, it is outside the authority of the West Java Provincial Government. So they cannot provide leniency.
“This re-registration, with its tax waived for 2025, is a good opportunity and please take advantage of it immediately,” Dedi Mulyadi emphasized.
For your information, Dedi Mulyadi is indeed actively increasing regional revenue from motor vehicle taxes.
Some time ago, he waived motor vehicle tax arrears for 2024 and previous years.
Dedi revealed that this rule is stated in the West Java Governor's Decree No.970/Kep.162-Bapenda/2025.
This program will start running on April 11. The tax amnesty will then end on June 30, 2025.
