KatadataOTO – 44 ASN (State Civil Apparatus) vehicles belonging to the Serang City Government, Banten Province, were found to have overdue annual Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB). The finding was made during a tax compliance operation held by the Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda) together with the Serang City Samsat on Tuesday (28/10).

They took action by placing reminder stickers on the 44 vehicles to urge the owners to make payments immediately. It is hoped that there will be no more arrears in the future.

"We took this data from an integrated system between Samsat and Bapenda, not based on position or echelon," said Hari W. Pamungkas, Head of the Serang City Bapenda.

He added that this activity is a collaboration expected to optimize revenue from PKB and the Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fee (BBNKB). Moreover, as of the end of October 2025, the realization of PKB revenue in Serang City has reached 80 percent of the Rp 104 billion target.

“With this tax compliance operation, we are optimistic the target will be achieved before the end of the year,” he then affirmed.

Interestingly, Bapenda has recorded a positive trend in tax compliance in Serang City, which has seen an increase. The growth even reached 30 percent compared to the same period last year.

This is due to tax compliance checks being carried out routinely, targeting not only ASN but also the general public through joint operations with Samsat and the Police.

Tax Amnesty in Banten

It should be noted that Banten Province is still providing a motor vehicle tax amnesty. This program has been extended and is valid until the end of October 2025.

The regulation is stated in Governor's Decree Number 286 of 2025 concerning the Exemption of Principal and/or Sanctions for Motor Vehicle Tax. With this, the public does not need to pay penalties if they settle the payment before October 31, 2025.

The requirements are considered easy as people just need to come to the nearest Samsat office with the necessary documents. These include the STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate), BPKB (Vehicle Ownership Book), and the owner's KTP (ID card).
