KatadataOTO – The Metro Jaya Regional Police has once again made several breakthroughs to take action against traffic rule violators. One of them is by sending ETLE ticket notifications via the WhatsApp application to the vehicle owner's mobile phone number.
This step will be implemented in the near future and is expected to make it easier for owners to know the status of their vehicles.
"In the near future, the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate will implement an ETLE ticketing system with notifications via WhatsApp messages to the vehicle owner's mobile phone number," said Senior Commissioner of Police Latif Usman, Director of Traffic for the Metro Jaya Regional Police, as reported by Antara (19/01)
It is hoped that providing ticket notifications will be more efficient. This is because, until now, the police have done this by sending a letter to the vehicle owner's home address.
However, the rule will be implemented gradually because this digital ETLE notification system needs to be supported by the vehicle owner's mobile phone number data.
Therefore, the Metro Jaya Regional Police Traffic Directorate has implemented a policy requiring the vehicle owner's mobile phone number to be included during the vehicle registration (STNK) process.
“Both when registering a new vehicle, renewing, transferring ownership, and so on,” he emphasized.
He added that the registered mobile phone number data will become the main database for digital ETLE notifications via WA messages.
“Therefore, if a motor vehicle owner receives an ETLE notification via a WhatsApp message, they must perform a clarification on the website http://etle-pmj.id,” he then explained.
The violator must also fill in some data, starting from the vehicle's license plate number, mobile phone number, reference code, and so on.
“Once the various data have been entered correctly, the person concerned will receive a Briva number or payment code to be paid,” he said.
However, if the owner who receives the notification does not make a clarification, the vehicle's license plate number will be blocked.
“The owner can find out if their vehicle is blocked when undergoing the STNK renewal process at the One-Stop Administration System (Samsat) office," he said.
Additionally, to facilitate the unblocking process, Samsat offices within the jurisdiction of the Metro Jaya Regional Police have provided ETLE ticket service counters and ATMs that can be used to settle fine payments.
Once paid, the block will be automatically lifted, and the STNK process can be carried out.
