KatadataOTO – Pramono Anung, Governor of Jakarta, emphasized that the electronic road pricing system (Electronic Road Pricing/ERP) cannot be implemented in the near future. Nevertheless, efforts will continue to be made to realize the plan.

He even plans for the revenue generated from ERP to be used as a subsidy for public transportation users. This would allow them to travel for free.

"Less affluent citizens are fully the responsibility of the state, and the revenue from ERP will be entirely used to provide subsidies to 15 groups. This includes residents from outside Jakarta," said Pramono Anung as reported by Antara (28/05).

However, the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta has not yet implemented this policy as it is still focused on improving mass public transportation facilities and infrastructure.

"Once it's installed, if you have the money and want to drive a car into Jakarta, that's fine. Just pay for all the ERP and parking," said Pramono.

It should be noted that the DKI Provincial Government currently provides free public transportation services such as the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), Light Rail Transit (LRT), and Transjakarta for several community groups.

This approach is expected to attract people to use public transportation and reduce traffic congestion.

Groups Eligible for Subsidies from ERP if Implemented

  1. DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Civil Servants (PNS) and their retirees
  2. Contract workers employed by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government
  3. Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) recipients
  4. Certain private sector employees or workers with salaries equivalent to the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) through Bank DKI.
