KatadataOTO – Electronic ticketing or ETLE has recently come under public scrutiny. This is because a photo has circulated showing that an ambulance was ticketed for running a red light.

However, ambulances are one of the priority vehicles that should be given precedence when on duty. Therefore, the Traffic Directorate of the Polda Metro Jaya has confirmed it will evaluate the ETLE system in the Capital City.

“This ETLE program has been around for a long time, so if problems are found, they will be evaluated immediately. We will see what actually happened,” said Police Commissioner Komarudin, Director of Traffic for Polda Metro Jaya, as reported by Antara (17/04).

He also explained that there will be various programs related to traffic in Jakarta, which is known to be quite congested.

"Such as Traffic Impact Analysis (Andalalin), traffic flow engineering on roads that are no longer proportional to the vehicle volume. There might be diversions and so on," he said.

Previously, several ambulances were known to have been ticketed by ETLE for perceived traffic violations, ranging from running red lights to entering the Transjakarta lane, even while transporting patients.

As a result, ambulance drivers are now reluctant to violate traffic laws to avoid being ticketed.

However, the police revealed that ambulance drivers should file a dispute, so that the vehicle registration certificate (STNK) is not blocked by the system.

It should be noted that the STNK will be blocked if no confirmation or payment is made within 16 days. This period is considered sufficient for vehicle owners to complete the various procedures.

Fortunately, there are no additional fees if the owner fails to do so. Even if late, the vehicle block can still be lifted by following the applicable rules.

The method is quite easy, as the ambulance owner simply needs to open the official ETLE Polda Metro Jaya website and clarify the violation committed.

Alternatively, they can also go directly to the Samsat office in any area under the jurisdiction of Polda Metro Jaya.
If all else fails, the owner can still file a dispute by going directly to the Sub-directorate of Law Enforcement (Subdit Gakkum) of the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Directorate.
