KatadataOTO – The Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement system, or ETLE ticketing, is claimed by the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) to have been effective. Therefore, they plan to add more cameras throughout Indonesia.

Ambitiously, they are targeting to have at least 5,000 ETLE cameras by 2027. This number is a sharp increase compared to the current 1,641 across Indonesia.

"We will add more of these later. The target for 2027 is possibly 3,000 or 5,000 ETLE cameras," said Inspector General of Police Drs. Agus Suryonugroho, S.H., M.Hum., Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, as reported by Antara.

According to him, there are many advantages offered by the ETLE system. From more transparent law enforcement to reducing the fatality rate on the roads.

"It's proven that in the first semester of 2025, the fatality rate dropped by 19.8 percent. So we were able to reduce nearly 2,512 fatalities," he said.

It should be noted that the ETLE cameras used by the police consist of several types. First is the handheld ETLE, which is small, connected to the system, and can only be used by certified traffic police officers.

Then there is the Mobile ETLE, which is installed in traffic police patrol cars with eight cameras at once.

Then there is the Static ETLE at several points. This camera operates 24 hours a day, making people more cautious when driving.

It was previously reported that the ETLE system successfully recorded at least 8,335,692 traffic violations from January to September 2025. From this number, officers will conduct further checks to validate the violations.

The next process is the confirmation stage, where the ticket is sent to the vehicle owner.

“Violation validations have reached 2,297,887, while confirmations are at 480,844 cases,” said the Head of the Traffic Corps in his official statement.

He revealed that the large number of violations recorded and successfully processed is the result of a major revitalization recently. This allows the process to run more optimally.

“This technology is not just a ticketing tool, but a means to build awareness and a culture of orderly traffic. With ETLE, we are here not to scare the public, but to protect and educate,” he added.
