KatadataOTO – PT Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB) is collaborating with PT Safast Electric Vehicle Indonesia (SFEV). Under the agreement, MAB will produce 9,000 mini trucks or EV (electric vehicle) pickups for Safast.

Starting from June 2025 for the next three years, MAB must deliver the electric pickups in stages. The cooperation agreement was signed by both parties at the PEVS 2025 event.

“MAB strives to remain a pioneer in the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia. We are doing this to contribute to and support the government's efforts to reduce air pollution,” said Kelik Irwantono, President Director of MAB at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta (04/05).

The MAB Mini Truck is said to be suitable as a goods or logistics transport vehicle. The presence of this model adds to the range of units offered by MAB.

Previously, MAB already had large and medium-sized electric buses. In addition, they have also marketed electric trucks and motorcycles.

Their 12-meter electric bus passed type-approval certification in November 2019. The first sale was made to PT Paiton Energy.

MAB-made electric buses were then marketed to various institutions such as PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper, PT Kideco Jaya Agung, PT Bukit Asam Tbk, PT Kaltim Parna Industry, PT Pupuk Kaltim, PT Chandra Asri Petrochemical, PT Vale Indonesia, the Semarang City Government, Makassar City Government, Bontang City Government, the DI Yogyakarta Provincial Government, and the Bogor Regency Government.

Then, recently, the DKI Jakarta provincial government officially started using garbage trucks from MAB.

The MAB EV pickup is said to be entering the production line at the factory located in Demak, Central Java. The facility absorbed an investment fund of around IDR 60 billion.

The collaboration between MAB and Safast is said to be an effort to strengthen the electric vehicle ecosystem in the country.

Safast or SFEV itself is a strategic partner of GOTION and PT Green Power Group. SFEV's business focuses on new energy-based commercial vehicles and value-added services for electric power batteries.

Not only that, SFEV also has services ranging from battery mileage management to the utilization of smart technology.
