KatadataOTO – The West Nusa Tenggara Provincial Government will hold a vehicle tax discount event. The policy is planned to be implemented starting July 1, 2025, and is expected to provide relief to car and motorcycle owners.

The Regional Revenue and Management Agency (Bappenda) of NTB revealed that the tax discount event is an appreciation from the government to motor vehicle taxpayers (PKB) who have been compliant and obedient in fulfilling their obligations.

"This program is held as a government effort to reduce poverty rates by providing relief in motor vehicle tax (PKB) payments," said Fathurrahman, Acting Head (Plt) of Bappenda NTB, as reported by Antara (24/06).

He explained that six clusters will be given tax discounts. The first is for the poor registered in the family hope program, veterans, citizens who have been tax-compliant for 4 consecutive years, and foundation vehicles.

In addition, the NTB Provincial Government also provides discounts for vehicle taxpayers who are currently in arrears. Then, cars or motorcycles with out-of-region license plates will also be given incentives if they are transferred into NTB, for both DR or EA plates.

The tax discount policy is stipulated in the West Nusa Tenggara Governor Regulation Number 9 of 2025 concerning the Provision of Relief and/or Exemption of Motor Vehicle Tax and Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fees.

According to Fathurrahman, this tax discount can capture the potential of active vehicles, whose percentage is still below 50 percent of the total registered cars and motorcycles.

"According to the data, there are more than 2 million cars and motorcycles in NTB, but only 916 thousand pay taxes. The remainder is what we are targeting to maximize with the discount program," Fathurrahman continued.

Unfortunately, the discount amounts for each cluster will be announced at its launch on June 29 at Teras Udayana, Mataram City.

Nevertheless, it is reported that the discount provided will be quite significant and even larger than in some other regions in Indonesia. This will certainly make it easier for the public to fulfill their obligations.
