Examining the Sales Fate of the Honda BR-V After Becoming a Taxi Fleet

KatadataOTO – PT HPM (Honda Prospect Motor) officially supplies the LSUV (Low Sport Utility Vehicle) as a Bluebird taxi fleet. Previously, Bluebird used the Mobilio.

Mobilio sales saw a slow decline after it became a taxi fleet. In fact, sales were eventually discontinued starting in 2024.

Yet at the beginning of its launch, the Mobilio was one of the 7-seater family cars favored by the Indonesian public.

Going back a decade, throughout 2014, its debut year, the Honda Mobilio successfully sold 79,288 units.

That positive trend did not last. Before production ceased, the Honda Mobilio only contributed 1,547 units to Honda's overall retail sales in 2023.

Conversely, the Mobilio's alternative model, the Honda BR-V, recorded satisfactory results in the same year with 18,104 units.

Although there is an assumption that the Mobilio's fate will be repeated with the BR-V, automotive observers believe the situation has now changed.

"Consumers are smart now. If a vehicle is not reliable, it won't be used as a taxi," said Bebin Djuana, an automotive observer, when contacted by KatadataOTO on Friday (09/05).
