Sales of Toyota's luxury sub-brand, Lexus, also saw a slight increase from 163 units to 165 units

Then in April 2025, Volvo brought in a refreshed version of the XC90 SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) priced at Rp 2.75 billion. Entering May, their sales figures increased by one unit.

Economic Conditions Don't Affect the Rich

Several luxury car brands indeed claim that the various challenges faced in the automotive sector do not have a significant impact.

“Our segment is indeed much more stable than others. We are very confident that this (condition) is only temporary,” said Peter “Sunny” Medalla, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia in PIK 2 some time ago.

He emphasized that they will not make any strategic changes in the country and are confident that sales will remain good.

“That is why BMW in Indonesia is less affected than others. Because we invest,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Volvo also believes the same. The big name of Volvo is considered enough for customers to keep choosing their products.

“This is not about selling cars by their price, but about trying to offer the value that comes with choosing it (a Volvo product) as your lifestyle,” said Koji Horii, Chief Strategy Officer of Volvo Car Indonesia in Jakarta recently.

He believes that the values offered through Volvo's vehicle lineup can strengthen sales in the country.
