KatadataOTO – Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, revealed that Indonesian-made cars will be available in the next three years. This is because the government has already initiated several steps to begin the process.
Thus, it is hoped that Indonesian roads will not only be dominated by foreign brands but also by local ones in the future.
“We will have Indonesian-made cars in the next three years," said Prabowo.
He even revealed that the government has prepared fund allocations and land for the construction of a factory that will produce domestic vehicles. Currently, the development team is said to be working on preparing for this.
He also added that Indonesia has now successfully produced a jeep-type vehicle used by officials and TNI officers. The car is the Maung, produced by PT Pindad.
"So now our officials and officers are not using jeeps made by other countries but are using Indonesian-made vehicles," said the President.
President Prabowo also conveyed that the use of these vehicles should be widely implemented within government and military circles.
"Soon, you all must use the Maung, I don't want to hear otherwise. Use your nice cars only on holidays," Prabowo asserted.
It should be noted that in March 2025, Pindad delivered 700 units of the Maung MV3 to the TNI and Polri. This number will continue to be increased to a total of 4,000 units.
The vehicle is planned to be used for the agency's operational purposes. Therefore, it is not surprising that the prepared liveries are different, according to the distinctive colors of the institutions using the Maung MV3.
In general, the Maung MV3 has a sturdy, boxy design with sharp angles. Its body material is ammunition-resistant, it is fitted with B5/B6 level bulletproof glass, and it uses Run Flat Tyres, which can continue to run even when punctured.
The MV3 Garuda Limousine is equipped with an automatic footstep for getting in and out of the vehicle. Meanwhile, the interior uses wood finish accent materials, captain seats, and is equipped with a 12-inch head unit and a 360-degree camera.
Not to forget other components to support passenger comfort, there is a cooled storage for food or drinks and a portable WiFi is also available.
