"The data is quite worrying, from January to October 2025 there were 11,604 accidents, causing 659 fatalities," said Brigadier General Dekananto, Deputy Chief of the Metro Jaya Regional Police.

Meanwhile, traffic violations reached 505,441 cases, a significant increase compared to the same period in 2024.

This surge in cases is the strong reason for the massive implementation of Operation Zebra Jaya 2025.

Besides ETLE, direct enforcement is still carried out for violations that cannot wait.

For example, running red lights, illegal racing, to driving under the influence of alcohol.

"It's impossible for us to wait for ETLE again. This is immediately handled with a conventional ticket," Dekananto continued.

With a combination of ETLE and personnel patrols, the Metro Jaya Regional Police aims to improve discipline.

Furthermore, a significant decrease in violations is expected while Operation Zebra 2025 is underway.

It should be noted, Operation Zebra 2025 will continue until this coming September 30. A number of violations are the focus.
