KatadataOTO – The construction of the East Central Axis Road (PTT) or Puncak II Road will be continued. The process will be carried out in 2026 and is expected to reduce congestion in the Puncak tourist area.

The continuation of the construction will be a strategic project prioritized by the Bogor Regency Government.

“The Bogor Regency Government is consistent in making the Puncak II route a priority and strategic project. In 2026, construction will continue with the support of the West Java Provincial Government,” said Ajat Rochmat Jatnika, Regional Secretary of Bogor Regency, as reported by Antara (25/12).

The Puncak II Road is located in the Bogor and Cianjur Regencies, West Java, connecting the Sentul area with the Cipanas Palace. This route is also integrated with the Transyogi section in the Cariu area.

The road section will connect Bogor Regency, Cianjur Regency, Bekasi Regency, and Karawang Regency. Additionally, it can facilitate cross-regional access for West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Banten.

Based on planning documents, the construction of the PTT/Puncak II road has the potential to increase travel distance efficiency by up to 16 percent. The target for reducing congestion in the Puncak area is 50 percent.

The PTT/Puncak II Road section has a total length of 56.25 kilometers, divided into two construction stages. Starting from Sentul–Sukahraja–Cipanas Palace spanning 39 kilometers and Sukahraja–Bantarkuning (Cariu) spanning 17.25 kilometers.

The estimated budget requirement for construction, based on 2021 calculations, reaches more than IDR 4.7 trillion. From this amount, the STA 0+000–STA 16+450 segment will cost IDR 1.6 trillion, STA 16+450–STA 32+000 will cost IDR 1.2 trillion, and STA 32+000–STA 56+250 will cost IDR 1.9 trillion.

This large amount of funding cannot be met by the Bogor Regency. Therefore, they need financial support from the provincial government, the central government, and private sector participation.

In the planning, Phase I from Sentul to Simpang Cibadak will be developed through private participation with land acquisition by the Bogor Regency Government. Meanwhile, Phase II from Sukahraja to Sukamakmur will be prepared through regional land procurement and physical construction by the provincial government.

Several initial works have been carried out, including the construction of the Pancakarsa Monument as the zero point, TNI's TMMD activities in several segments, access road construction by the private sector, and road hardening on the Sentul – Cibadak section.

“With the continuation of construction in 2026, the Puncak II road is expected to be a long-term solution to Puncak's congestion while also boosting the growth of the East Bogor region,” concluded Ajat.
