KatadataOTO – The National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) will facilitate document processing for flood victims in the Sumatra and Aceh regions. This is because the disaster has damaged many facilities.
The documents that will be easier to process include the Driver's License (SIM), Vehicle Registration Certificate (STNK), Motor Vehicle Owner's Book (BPKB), and Vehicle License Plate (TNKB). Thus, it is hoped that the public can experience ease in continuing to drive legally in the country.
"The National Police are paying special attention to the needs of Sumatra flood victims regarding SBST documents (SIM, BPKB, STNK, TNKB)," said Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (10/12).
Agus ensures that services in the affected areas will be adjusted to the conditions on the ground so that the public can process documents without administrative obstacles.
Korlantas has also taken several approaches, starting from placing mobile service units at refugee posts and in hard-to-reach areas. Additionally, they are adjusting schedules and service priorities to accelerate the recovery of residents' administrative documents.
Furthermore, digital databases will be prioritized to reduce physical document requirements. Lastly, collaboration with regional ranks is being carried out to ensure safe and coordinated services.
The Head of Korlantas has also ordered the registration and identification (regident) units to create simple emergency service procedures. This is expected to make it easy for the public to understand the regulations.
“The National Police are committed to assisting the community throughout all stages of recovery. SBST services will continue to be prepared so that the administrative needs of residents can be met quickly and safely,” he said.
He also urged the public in the affected areas to immediately contact the nearest Satpas, Samsat, or Regident Office if they need to reprocess their documents.
It cannot be denied that the disasters that have struck Sumatra in recent times have been very severe. A number of private companies have also flocked to provide assistance to the victims.
One of them is Mahindra, which handed over several units of the Scorpio Double Cabin 4x4 vehicle. The car is expected to make it easier for officers in the field to carry out disaster management.
