After a long silence since its debut at GJAW 2024, Aletra announced that the L8 is officially locally assembled in Purwakarta.
KatadataOTO – After debuting at GJAW (Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week) 2024, the electric car Aletra has finally officially started local assembly at the PT HIM (Handal Indonesia Motor) facility in Purwakarta, West Java.
Produced with a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) scheme, PT Aletra Mobil Nusantara also targets the Aletra L8 to gradually reach a TKDN (Local Component Level) of at least 40 percent.
“The inaugural assembly of the Aletra L8 in Indonesia is our strategic step in developing electric vehicle technology, which is the future of the nation's automotive industry,” said Andre Jodjana, CEO of PT Aletra Mobil Nusantara, as quoted from the official broadcast on Monday (26/05).
The presence of the Aletra L8 is also expected to help meet the needs of the domestic market with a competitive product in the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) segment.
“Aletra also ensures that all vehicles produced meet high-quality standards, as a form of commitment to the safety, comfort, and superior performance of vehicles in its class,” Andre affirmed.
The Aletra L8, which is originally a left-hand drive or LHD (Left Hand Drive) model, has been converted to right-hand drive in Indonesia.
Various adjustments have been made to the exterior and interior. Thus, it is said to be closer to consumer preferences and road conditions in the country.
Not only for domestic needs, the Aletra L8 RHD (Right Hand Drive), which is only produced in Indonesia, will be exported to a number of RHD countries in the Asia Pacific.
The PT HIM factory in Purwakarta is the second facility, which will begin operations in February 2025. Its capacity is 1,800 units per month.
As of the beginning of the year, it is known that six brands will utilize the newest assembly facility, including Aletra.
The Aletra L8 is offered in Short Range variants with a 50.4 kWh battery or Long Range with a 64.7 kWh battery. At its debut, the price started from Rp 415 million specifically for 200 SPK (Vehicle Order Letters) at the GJAW 2024 exhibition.
As of January 2025, Aletra claims that 700 units of the L8 EV (Electric Vehicle) have been ordered since its launch at GJAW 2024.
This includes an order of 150 units by Jusuf Hamka, the owner of several toll roads in Indonesia. The Aletra L8 will be used as operational vehicles for employee mobility on the Jabodetabek toll roads and in other regions.
