Despite the unstable economic conditions, BMW is confident its sales will not be affected throughout 2025.
KatadataOTO – BMW Group Indonesia has become one of the automotive brands in the premium segment to achieve satisfactory results throughout 2024, especially amidst market turmoil and economic uncertainty.
From January to December 2024, BMW claims their market share in the premium segment is 39 percent.
In the premium electric vehicle or EV segment, BMW's market share successfully reached 64 percent.
BMW Group Indonesia does not deny that there are a number of external factors that could potentially disrupt their domestic sales.
“The poorly performing stock market, exchange rates, these also affect our consumers,” said Peter “Sunny” Medalla, President Director of BMW Group Indonesia when met in PIK 2 recently.
Furthermore, according to him, issues related to import tariffs and various economic uncertainties are making manufacturers, including BMW, cautious in 2025. However, he is optimistic that the situation will improve.
“However, our segment is indeed much more stable than others. We are very confident that this (condition) is only temporary,” said Sunny.
According to him, to maintain sales in Indonesia, BMW will not make changes to its strategy or product plans in the country.
“That is why BMW in Indonesia is less affected than others. Because we are investing,” he continued.
For your information, BMW recorded record sales in the first quarter with a total of 835 units, an increase of 7.7 percent compared to the same period last year.
To strengthen its market in Indonesia, BMW, together with Eurokars Group, inaugurated a new dealership with the Retail Next concept, integrated with Mini.
The total investment for the first dealership established in PIK 2 is more than Rp 200 billion, featuring four floors that accommodate BMW and Mini sales as well as service facilities.
In the future, there will be 12 additional dealerships that are integrated BMW Mini facilities, and gradually all of them will adopt the Retail Next concept like the one in PIK 2.
The hope is that these Retail Next dealerships can provide a new and exclusive experience to all BMW and Mini customers in the country
