KatadataOTO – BAIC BJ30 Hybrid is ready to launch for Indonesian consumers, adding another SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) option with hybrid technology.

This Chinese manufacturer has confirmed that the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid will make its domestic debut at the GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show) 2025 event.

It should be noted that BAIC currently only sells two conventional engine models for its customers. There is the X55-II crossover SUV, which has just received a refresh.

Then there is the BJ40 Plus, which serves as the backbone of BAIC's sales in Indonesia. The presence of this boxy, Jeep-style off-road SUV is said to be a special attraction for consumers.

The positive consumer response to the BJ40 Plus seems to have prompted BAIC to introduce a similar model. This time, it is a hybrid car.

Although BAIC has not yet provided a price range, salespeople have already started offering the unit and leaking its future price tag.

“The estimated price is in the Rp 500 million range, but the final price will be announced at GIIAS 2025,” said a BAIC salesperson when contacted by KatadataOTO on Monday (14/07).

This means the price of the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid is lower than its sibling that is not yet equipped with hybrid technology.

Based on KatadataOTO's findings, the price of the BJ40 Plus in Indonesia as of June 2025 is around Rp 698 million on the road in Jakarta.

If interested, consumers can already place an order through a BAIC salesperson. The waiting period is also claimed not to be too long.

“The waiting list is informed to be from August to September. If it can be faster, you will be notified,” said the salesperson.

In terms of size, the BAIC BJ30 Hybrid has slightly different dimensions compared to its predecessor in Indonesia.

Referring to official information from BAIC, the BJ30 Hybrid has a length of 4,730 mm, a width of 1,910 mm, a height of 1,790 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. Meanwhile, its ground clearance is 215 mm.

For comparison, the L x W x H dimensions of the BAIC BJ40 Plus are 4,465 mm x 1,925 mm x 1,871 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,745 mm and a ground clearance of 210 mm.

Both have a five-passenger or 5-seater configuration. The rearmost row is used as a storage or luggage space.

If it comes to Indonesia, the choice of boxy-styled, environmentally friendly cars with off-road capabilities will become even more varied.
