KatadataOTO – BMW, as one of the luxury car manufacturers in Indonesia, revealed that the current domestic economic situation is also affecting the premium segment.

Although the impact was not very visible before, BMW revealed there are specific reasons behind the fluctuations in luxury car sales in 2025.

Referring to Gaikindo data, luxury car sales in Indonesia fell by 33 percent in October 2025. The retail figure, or distribution from dealers to consumers, was recorded at 391 units, whereas in September it had reached 588 units.

BMW even experienced the sharpest decline, from 258 units to 172 units throughout October 2025.

“So far, we see that there might be some (consumers delaying purchases). Because some BMW customers are business people,” said Jodie O’tania, Director of Communications for BMW Group Indonesia in Jakarta, on Wednesday (03/12).

Business people tend to delay purchases or take a 'wait and see' approach when they see an economic situation that is not yet fully stable.

The impact is indeed not as severe as that felt by the lower-middle segment, but it is quite noticeable towards the end of the year.

Therefore, BMW is committed to presenting various attractive sales programs to attract the interest of consumers in the premium segment.

For example, through the BMW Festival of Joy event at JIExpo Kemayoran on December 12-14, 2025.

There will be a complete range of vehicle products from BMW, Mini, to motorcycles from BMW Motorrad. Customers can directly test drive the car they want.

“The BMW Festival of Joy will be the most complete exhibition from the BMW Group in terms of display and also test drives,” said Jodie.

Regardless of the economic conditions, Jodie emphasized that BMW is still the leader in the premium segment in Indonesia, recording a 49 percent market share.

“Our market share, if combined with Mini, can reach up to 60 percent. We remain optimistic about this year's sales,” said Jodie.

For your information, BMW currently markets various models, including its electric vehicle line such as the iX and i7.

To reach more consumers, including the younger generation, BMW has introduced an electric-powered SUV with its most affordable price tag, the iX1.

When it debuted in mid-May 2024, the BMW iX1 was offered at a price of Rp 1.44 billion off the road.
