Suzuki is ready to invest IDR 5 trillion in factory development to optimize vehicle production.

KatadataOTO – Suzuki has confirmed it will disburse funds of Rp 5 trillion for development at its factory. This step is one of the manufacturer's ways to boost the currently pressured market.
Later, these funds will be focused on purchasing new equipment. This is important because the manufacturer can carry out extensive product development.
“This Rp 5 trillion investment will be used to invest in production equipment such as tools and dies,” said Shodiq Wicaksono, Managing Director of PT Suzuki Indomobil Motor to the media (17/01).
With the large amount of funds prepared, it is hoped that Suzuki can be more optimal in producing vehicles.
Based on Gaikindo data, throughout 2024 Suzuki produced 73,437 units. That number is down 36,689 units or about 33.3 percent from the previous year's total of 110,126 units.
Nevertheless, that number is enough to make Suzuki the sixth-largest car manufacturer by production in Indonesia. The total vehicles they produced contributed 7.9 percent of all domestically made cars.
The highest production occurred in August 2024. At that time, they managed to produce at least 7,386 units.
Meanwhile, the lowest production was in April 2024. The manufacturer with the S logo only produced 5,117 units, a decrease from the achievement in March of 5,987 units.
Besides affirming its commitment to improving production facilities, Suzuki will also be more aggressive in car sales in Indonesia. They even plan to introduce a new model starting in the first semester of 2025.
This step is very important considering the pressure in the automotive industry throughout 2024 is expected to occur again in 2025. Therefore, manufacturers must prepare many strategies.
“We will bring a new model and enter the SUV segment. The plan is to launch it in the first semester of 2025,” said Harold Donnell, 4W Marketing Director of Suzuki Indomobil Sales to the media (17/01).
Not only that, he also confirmed there will be several refreshes of existing models. He is optimistic that the presence of these products can increase vehicle sales.
